Valeria Kuzmina Lowery was shot multiple times in the head, torso and leg, according to Lt. John Grimpel, an NYPD spokesman. She was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital. Her mother, Olga Annarumma, 57, was shot once in the head and was brought to Elmhurst in critical condition, where she remains, Grimpel said.
The victims were shot after Annarumma opened the front door of their home at 22-49 38 St. to the shooter a little before 9 a.m. He shot the elder victim once in the head and then entered the apartment and shot her daughter.
The suspect is Guerino Annarumm, 52, Annarumma's husband. He was was taken into custody around 11:50 a.m. Monday at another location and is being questioned at the 114th Precinct, Grimpel said.
Annarumm and Annarumma were on the verge of divorce, and the suspect had been posting blog entries about both victims for months at annarumma.blogspot.com . On the blog he charged that Annarumma had married him just to get a green card and that Lowery was looking to do the same thing with some unwitting victim. He claims the two women destroyed him and vows revenge.
