Man accused of
breaking into cars
A 21-year-old man was jailed early Thursday morning after running from police officers who tried to arrest him.
Andrew Hoffman, no known address, allegedly entered several vehicles in an attempt to remove property and removed property from one vehicle around 12:38 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of North Ninth Street, police said.
Police stopped Hoffman with the assistance of a resident who had observed Hoffman entering the vehicles. Hoffman was intoxicated and fled from police after being told he was under arrest, police said.
Hoffman was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit and taken to Lebanon County Central Booking. He was arraigned before District Judge Michael Smith on four counts of attempted thefts from a vehicle, one count of theft from a vehicle, one count of receiving stolen property, public drunkenness and escape.
He was placed in Lebanon County prison in lieu of $9,500 bail.
