'American Idol' recap: San Diego auditions
San Diego provided the backdrop for Sunday's "American Idol" auditions, as the show saddled aboard the U.S.S. Midway in its search for the nation's next "top gun" singer.
Thankfully, none of Sunday night's contestants dared to belt out "You've Lost that Loving Feeling," and even better, most of them outperformed Steven Tyler's much-maligned rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner."
Here's a look at some of the most memorable performances from the show.
Jennifer Diley: I'm not sure if anyone's ever crunched the data for "Idol" contestants' skin factor, but I have to think Diley's outfit Sunday would have to rank among the boldest in the show's history. Clad in a bikini-type top and short shorts, the wardrobe, she explained, was chosen in part to woo judges Tyler and Randy Jackson, as well as show her national spirit.
"I consider myself a patriot," she explains. "I'm just all-American."
Uh huh.
